Zoo Mini Book
|
Supplies:
left over chipboard used in packaging supplies
papers (I used the Offbeat Collection from Basic Grey)
letter stickers (I used Thickers and some other metal ones I found)
Ribbon
Eyelets
Simple Embellishments
Adhesive
- To create the book cover and back, I cut the chipboard into 3 pieces: 2 pieces are 3” x 6” and the last is 6”x 6”. You can make any size book that you’d like because you’re making your own book though!
- I covered the pieces with cardstock and embellishments. I used Zip Dry Glue to attach the cardstock to the cover. I wanted a gate opening so I had to cut the sticker that I used in order for the cover to open.
- Then I cut assorted cardstock down to 5 1/2” x 5 1/2”.
- I adhered the pictures on both the left and right front covers, alternating as I went since I knew I wanted the book to open like a gate. I added a square of coordinating paper, an embellishment, and a letter sticker for each animal.

- On the back, I found facts about each animal that was photographed. I wanted people to learn something about the animals as they were reading through the book.

- I inked the edges of the pages and the cover as well with Tim Holtz Distress Ink. It’s a subtle look, but it really finishes the project off.
- After I finished all of the pages, I divided up the stack (5 on the left and 5 on the right) so that I could use my Bind It All to attach all of the pages together. I Zuttered on each of the corners: 5 rings on the top and 4 rings on the bottom.
- After I finished putting my book together, I added a ribbon closure. To do this, I used my Crop-a-dile to punch holes for and attach 2 large eyelets. Then I threaded ribbon through the back and double knotted it. This allowed me to hide the knots and have a nice bow on the front!

The finished project is a wonderful book that showcases the animals that I saw on my visit to the San Diego Wild Animal Park! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and will consider making a mini album of your own.
*If you don’t have a Bind-It-All, you could use binder rings or ribbon!
