September 16th Challenge Reveal!

Is it me or do these challenges seem to come round really quickly?! Here we go with the next challenge:

1. Your layout should have a long title (4 or more words)
2. Your layout should have a summer theme – a great excuse to scrap some of those summer photos!
3. Your layout must be an unusual shape – no 12×12 squares allowed!

Here’s my take on the challenge:

amanda

This time I had the pleasure of working with the August Kit from The Citrus Tree Studio. All products are from the kit. I loved these products and it was so hard to bring myself to start cutting!

To use a diferent shape, i’ve decorated an envelope. A big one! So it became a layout where i can keep post cards about my vacations.
I’ve used bright colors, stamps and lots of text together to make the title.

To create my layout, I first looked at the patterned papers that I was using.  Then I looked at the challenge and searched for the perfect photo!

It was pretty easy to come up with the shape of the layout . . . I just used an apple shape that was found in one of the patterned papers that I was working with.

The title was a little harder to come by.  A 4 or more word title about something summery?! Well . . . after searching through some sites looking for something that would catch my eye . . . I saw “wanna have some fun” somewhere and remembered “Girls just wanna have fun” . . . I think it works perfectly with the patterned papers as well as the silly picture!

Papers KI Memories.

Instead of using just the die cut pattern paper to make my LO “an unusual shape” I added cardstock to the back.
My added my long title to follow the shape of the LO for more contrast and added red stitching for color. Stickles helped give it a little more shine too.

our beach

I collect snow globes from the places I visit and thought it would be great to make on out of paper for my first summer swim! I had the eyes closed in this pic so I had to put some sunglasses on to cover that!! You should never think that your photos aren’t good to scrap, you can uplift anything!!

I have cut a white cardstock in a circle and stamped with glimmer mist (Riptide) a dotted pattern to act as my summer snow! Then I cut three cardboard pieces to form the base of my globe and glimmer misted them with “Walnut gold” to look like there is sand all over them.

My whole design is based on handcutting, doodling and stocking up details such as brads, bling bling and chipboard stickers since I think sometimes people feel intimidated to add dimension with tidbits!

My supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill
Patterned paper:  American crafts, creative imaginations
Chipboard stickers: K& Co, Scenic Route
Crystals: Prima
Brads: Smirk, Petaloo

I love rainbows and to me growing up in central Scotland summer is all about long evenings, some sun and of course, rain. One of my favourite childhood memories is looking out onto the Ochil Hills and seeing the most beautiful rainbow.
Anyway, sitting in Wetherspoons in Scotland 2 weeks ago and “Here Comes The Sun” by The Beatles is put on. I’m playing with a pear shaped beer mat and this challenge springs into my thoughts.
I used cardboard to make the rainbow and painted it with acrylic paint. I covered a pear shaped beer mat in  Sassafrass Happy Place paper. Used Bella! Cork and a Flower made from felt (not Sassafrass but i copied it – am i allowed to say that?). Used black diamond stickles and random Thickers. The photo was taken whilst on holiday in Norway visiting my mum.

Thank you so much Amanda and all the DT Ladies for having me guest this month! I have loved the challenges and i have had a lot of fun!

**Thanks to you too, Natalie, we’ve enjoyed your stay!**
